has anyone taken Macrobid for UTI?

I have a moderate urinary tract infection that I have to take Macrobid for and I was wondering if anyone else has taken this medicine while breastfeeding and if it caused any changes in your baby? My DS is 3 mos and I was told this is safe to take in BF Moms however, the web site states differently. Any input on your experience with UTI and medicine taken and babies reaction, if any,would be appreciated Thanks

It seems to be one of the safer drugs for lactating women if the baby is older than 1 month:

I looked at the second link you sent me myself when I got the prescription and it made me question whether I should take or not. After calling my family practitioner and getting a 3rd okay in total of professionals I asked, I took it and am BFing but was still concerned, thinking my DS is crying more after my taking 3 doses. Nothing is different in his behavior most likely. What is going on is that I am probably being a mother and being to concerned here when I don't need to be.

I did take it when LO was 4 weeks old. It didn't get rid of the UTI, neither did augmentin...finally Cipro did the trick...it was a NASTY infection.

The only problem that I had was thrush. I'd beef up on the probiotics, either in capsule form and/or yogurt, and I'd lay off anything sugary for a week or so.

Thanks for the tip on the yogurt. Do you know if I can eat some sugar, like in my coffee or should I not take any added sugar while on meds?
