Question Tylenol #3 with Codeine?

I broke my arm today and the doc at the ER gave me Tylenol #3 with Codeine and said it is safe for use with breastfeeding. When I looked it up on Kellymom.com
http://www.kellymom.com/health/meds/pain-meds.html it says it is a catagory L3.
The catagories are: L1 (safest), L2 (safer), L3 (moderately safe), L4 (possibly hazardous), L5 (contraindicated). I fed my LO milk previously pumped tonight but I was wondering if anyone knows how long the codine would be in my system after I take it? The dose is 300mg (Tylenol)/30mg(Codine). My LO is 9 months old. "Moderately safe" sounds a bit scarry to me but I would like to take it tonight so i can get a little sleep - it is throbbing so much right now.

I was put on Lortabs after having my daughter, didn't seem to effect her much. I take Valium now and it doesn't bother her either.

Quote:
L3 MODERATELY SAFE:
There are no controlled studies in breastfeeding women, however the risk of untoward effects to a breastfed infant is possible; or, controlled studies show only minimal non-threatening adverse effects. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the infant.

Tylenol 3 is AAP approved for use in bfing mothers, according to the AAP list of approved meds.

ouch your baby is older and taking some solids it should be ok!
Moms with c-sections are giving that for pain.
In a day or so after the swelling goes down you should feal beter and not need it!
