This is my first post and glad to be here!
Ok here's the ordeal..
#1, I have to find a job. While pregnant we moved out of state and I was only able to keep my current job until a replacement was found. This was in May. My son was born Sept 1..almost 2 months old now!! Living in a new state with no network of friends (or anyone) to get a job is tough enough... but I have to find a job that will work with a pumping schedule. Anyone have experience in new jobs and BF? I'm just scared that its not going to be as easy as I want it to be.. but I won't just stop BFing, that's for sure!
#2, he wont take a bottle..at all. I have tried everything. I know one thing, he hates silicone nipples, and those are the nipples (like Avent) that I know would probably be easiest for him to take. But the silicone is too hard. He gums the nipple, makes a frowny face and turns his head! The Playtex drop in natural nipple worked 1 time. The second time he gagged and spewed milk everywhere and didn't want to eat again for hours! All the nipples are too long for him so he gags, or he won't take because of texture. I am going to try alternatives but since I have to find a daycare, I dont feel confident that they will support a dropper or other method. That leads me to problem #3...
Daycare...urgh. Nothing I hate more. My 6 yr old only nursed until he was 2 months old. He was switched to formula because he was tearing my nipples up. I would cry because of the pain....therefore I didn't have to worry with BFing/daycare issues. The daycares I have gone to see all use bottle warmers. Are they safe for breastmilk? I cannot find anything online to reference but they don't seem like the best idea for breastmilk. Maybe I am wrong. My other issue is that the few places I have checked out, they don't even know if current babies are formula or breastfed... that worries me! If I pick a suitable daycare as far as safety and something we like, will they forget he is taking breastmilk and treat it like formula as far as heating and storage care?
I know I am having the 'back to work' scares but this is new to me. I wasn't able to nurse my oldest and want to be able to do it for at least a year with this go round. I have even convinced my best friend (who is being enduced on Monday) to breastfeed. I have spent time with her showing her the ropes, etc and encouraging her because no one else has. So I am the testrunner! What I learn I shall pass on. But with finding a new job (hopefully in the next 2 weeks) and no bottle or daycare success, I am getting very nervous!
I have read other threads and see alot about bottle issues that I will try..but anyone have any tidbits (or more) of advice on the new job and daycare issues?
Thank you soooo much!
