Before I begin, all weight info is in my signature.
DS was going along fine on the 50th % (although some of these were with a cloth diaper on) until 9 1/2 months when I was told that there was a concern with his weight. Now he is down at about the 5th percentile. He nurses 10 to 12 times a day for about 15 minutes total each time. I know that pumping is no indicator, but I can pump 2oz. in about 10 minutes. He started on solids at about 6 months with a little here and there. He started refusing baby food and demanding table food at about 7 months. There is a lot of stress in my life right now and I know that can affect him, so I have been trying to up my milk supply. I am taking fenugreek, blessed thistle, marshmallow root and drinking mother's milk tea. I am living with my parents right now and they do not understand breastfed vs. formula fed baby's needs. They keep giving him water and sips of tea. I am made to feel ungrateful when I try to explain to them that he does not need water and definitely not tea, and all I keep hearing is to give him a bottle. I am concerned that the combination between the stress and the pressuring to give him water plus the incorrect weighing (did not realize at the time) of him with a diaper on has resulted in an incorrect diagnosis. Is there any validation to my fears? He is being referred to a nutritionist, and ENT, and a Neurologist. He has been showing signs of sleep apnea, so it's not a bad thing to see these doctors, but I feel like he should not be considered FTT. He is happy, health aside from the apnea and has been hitting all milestones at the right time if not earlier. He has 8-10 wet diapers and 2-3 bm's a day. I am really starting to feel like I need to find another doctor that knows what they are talking about when it comes to breastfeeding. This woman told me that he should be eating 8oz at a time and I KNOW that is not right. She also believes that pumping is an indicator of how much he is eating. Thought please?
