    Default bruised or something else

My rt breast is so sore as of this morning. It feels like it is just bruised which I may have done holding my breast/trying to do compressions for my dd to get more milk. But I can't see any bruising. I wondered if it might be a plugged duct but I don't know what those are like. Are there any questions I should be asking to figure out what is wrong. She is nursing normally on both sides, nipples don't hurt, just the tissue above the nipple. Oh and what do I do for this? We have a heating pad if that would help.

I think plugged ducts feel like bruises too so it very well could be that. Some plugged ducts hurt worse when you have a letdown but some dont.

Do you know what to do for it? I never feel let downs but just hear her swallow, I don't know why, just the way I am.

I felt fine yesterday and she nursed all night as always and then this morning began hurting really badly. It hurts now while I'm not even nursing her.

Put heat on it, massage it and nurse on that side first and as frequently as she will nurse. Sometime hand expressing while consentrating on that are will help work the plug out.

Thanks! I have had this kind of pain I guess a few times before but it just seems odd that now at 18 months I get it again? Using the heating pad now.

I get the same thing. I think it's minor plugs. DS is 13 months, and when I'm away a lot and/or wear too many tight bras, I get sore bruised feeling areas. They never get swollen, and they go away after a few days. I figure it's small plugs that resolve themselves.
