Thread: Pumping and Daycare

    Default Pumping and Daycare

I have a 5 month old son that goes to daycare for about 9 hours a day.
I pump 2-3 times while at work. I have been having issues with my right breast, mastitis and thrush (Son does not have thrush) and I am on antibiotics. So it seems like my production is going down, but he is still latching on and eating like a pro.
My DC provider is feeding him 12-22 oz a day, which I can barely keep up with.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I am beginning to think that she is feeding him too much. When he starts fussing she gives him 4-8 ounces. I didn't think his tummy was large enough to hold that much at a time.

Thank you so much to anyone that answers

That seems like a lot of breastmilk...Try having you DCP offer 2-3 oz every 2 hours. Breastmilk digests faster then formula and a lot of DCP are not really experienced with it.

Holy cow that is way too much! 8oz at one time! Sounds like she is not well versed in the feeding a breastfed baby.

Thank you for responding so quickly.
littleiandjmomma hit the nail on the head. The biggest problem with my DC is that she is always pushing formula and trying to tell me what to feed him.
I don't know how I would approach her to ask her to cut back.

She works for you mama and we at talking about your kid! Can you print the second link and review it with her? Also maybe only give her 12oz per day
