Question Bowel Movements, straining, and what I eat.

My baby seems really gassy, straining with each bowel movement, and crying ofen as if she is trying to have a bm or pass gas. I read that this is pretty common because she might not be used to the feeling yet of trying to push something out, as she is only 2 weeks old. I know that dairy, caffeine, and salt are supposed to be "gassy" foods to avoid, but I'm confused. How fast does what you eat reach your breastmilk and how quickly does your breastmilk no longer contain what you consumed? I hope I worded that right, feels like a dumb question, but I just don't get it. If I drink a soda right now, will my baby be getting it if she nurses in 30 minutes, 2 hours, the next day?

Coolest thing my big girl said recently: "How can you tell the world is moving when you are standing on it?"
Coolest thing my little girl sang recently: "I love dat one-two pupples!"
