    Default clicking help for sister!

My sisters DD is 3 weeks old and they have been having a pretty rough go with breastfeeding. The baby has been clicking at the breast since pretty much the first feeding. I heard it when I saw her at 6 hours old in the hospital. One LC at hospital told her that it was fine and would go away. She has been seeing a IBCLC who doesn't know what is going on. Baby doesn't appear to be tounge tied and looks like she is latched on right to the IBCLC. She sticks her tounge up on the roof of her mouth all the time or sticks it out of her mouth and then up towards her nose. Sister is getting frusterated and sore. She was given a nipple sheild and it only seems to help occasionally. She has referral into a occupational therpiest but I hoping that you ladies would have some ideas in the mean time.

clicking makes me think tounge tie but..
does the babies tounge look like a heart?
Lots of tounge tie babies make thier mothers nipples just raw.
so if she is just a little bit sore maybe its some sort of latch issue.
Hard to say on-line its good she is getting hands on help.

no, not heart shaped. Its more long and pointy.
She is pretty raw, she thought she had thrush from her pain, but her doctor said it wasn't.

OALD is my other thought if it isn't tongue tie. is the clicking happening during let down or all the time? a baby clicks when nursing becuase she is losing suction or "breaking the seal" She may be breaking the seal to keep up with the fast flow. That can cause nipples to be sore because the baby is slipping on and off the nipple slightly. If the latch is good and there def isn't a tongue tie I'd assume that. Here's a great tongue tie link:

My DS clicked as a newborn too, but eventually outgrew it? I know his latch was good, but he clicked anyway... but after a few weeks it just seemed to go away?
