    Default pumping for twins

Everything I have been pumping- the twins have been eating and then some. I can't seem to keep up with them and I desperately want to meet their needs and build up a stash. I rented a hospital pump that I should have until Jan 22 (about to renew it for a month) but its way too expensive to keep renting and I'd love to have a stash by then to help until the twins are home and 100% on the boob.

Any advice. I'm having a hard time staying awake to pump at night and sleeping through the alarm but pump every two hours while awake with one breastfeeding session at NICU. I make about 21-24oz a day now to take in to the twins.

Are you drinking plenty of water? Have you tried taking any fenugreek or mother's milk tea? Also, are you massaging your breasts while pumping to maximize milk flow? Hand expressing when the flow of milk stops and you quit pumping can yield some additional milk too.

Have you tried pumping while one of them is latched on at the NICU? How much are they taking in at this point? Can hubby help make sure you wake up in the middle of the night to pump? What if you stopped trying to stay up late and just pumped with the alarm? Are you allowed a four or five hour stretch of sleep?

Sorry so many questions and sorry you guys are having such a tough time. When do they get to come home?

    ETA: Are you eating oatmeal?

yeah I set my alarm in the middle of the night for every 3 hrs. You really need to not go a long stretch without pumping to get your supply up.

Brown rice helped my supply as did power pumping (12 min on, 12 min off, 12 min on, 12 off, 12 on) once every morning.

    Brown rice?

I am eating oatmeal- but not a lot... I tend to forget to eat and drink- the guzzling/chowdown. has anyone tried lactation cookies?

Because of how our nicu works with breastfeeding. i'm constantly worried that I just wont make enough for two.
