    Default Timing of scalding expressed milk

    I notice my expressed milk smells rancid / metallic etc after a day of refrigeration. I would like to tray the scalding method.
    I work full time and pump throughout my time in the office.

    Can I pump and collect during the day and scald the milk once I get home?
    Will it have the same effect as if I scalded the milk at time of expressing?

    It really depends on the individual and how active the "excess lipase" is. I was able to scald at the end of the day. Other people have needed to scald within a couple hours of pumping.

    You may need to do some experiments. Put a small amount EBM in a storage bottle and then smell / taste every hour (or so) to see how long you have before the lipase affects your EBM.
