    hi

i've suddenly got very sensitive and painful nipples also. could this be due to ovulation starting again? worst before a feed and in first minutes, but always tender.

thanks for any experience anyone can share

Those are always my first 3 questions regarding nipple tenderness. Next would be trauma such as cracks or a bite injury, then I'd wonder about thrush

i think it might have been ovulation, but waiting to see if period arrives now
: hmmm pain was there for about a week, didn't fit the symptoms for thrush and there were no signs of damage, although my LO is an acrobat nurser! hoping it's not my period but i've got away for 19 months already so shouldn't complain

any breast or nipple pain I took as a sign to slow down, that I was trying to do too much.

Only time I had any issues with pain after DS became an avid nurser was when I was pregnant... test and tell us!

This may seem crazy but I have noticed from time to time some pain. I think it has to do with LO teeth. When some are popping through and are sharp I think they rub me sometimes or the gaps between them pinch me

Could it be that your lo is teething and maybe not opening his mouth as wide as normal? My son goes through stages which seem to be related to teething (maybe he doesn't want the nipple touching a sensitive area or something) when his mouth is more closed than usual when he's nursing and it makes my nipples painful. just a thought.

my period has returned exactly 2 weeks after the nipple pain started, so it was ovulation in my case anyway!
