Default Long term storage of free style (in other words, I'm done!!)

After 15 months of lots and lots of pumping for my dd who never got great at milk removal (But still nurses all the time now much to my delight), I'm finally at peace with not pumping the one day/week I work. I didn't pump this weekend and I was fine after being away for 9 hrs. She nurses all night long especially after I've been gone all day.

Now, do I need to do anything with my freestyle to store it safely for my next baby? I read the instructions and it had temperature guidelines (no extreme temps) but it also said don't remove battery (not under storage guidelines but general) however I thought in general you do remove batteries from things you aren't going to use for long term because the battery might corrode and ruin the pump. I'm right now leaning toward taking the battery out and just storing it a closet but if anyone has any words of wisdom, please share.

And please rejoice with me as we have made it over 15 months now on exclusive human milk (and foods and water of course now).

Just talked to Medela customer service she said it wouldn't hurt it to keep it in but it will need to be charged next time anyway so it's fine to take it out too. Many moms keep them in to avoid losing the battery.

Way to go on 15 months of pumping!!! My DS is 12 months TODAY and I am pretty sure I will be done pumping this week.

all i got to say is nice work ladies

ok, not all i have to say!I have to admit, i got a little sad when talking about pump weaning with DH. I know it's not the case necessarily, but it made me feel like i was talking about weaning entirely.

Did either of you have those feelings? Probably in two months i'll feel differently

I pumped 10-12 x /day for many months while also breastfeeding because of problems my little girl had so I was pretty sick of pumping. But it is a little nostalgic to put it all away and think about getting it out again for another baby in a few years (who I hope gets the hang of nursing so much faster!) Weaning makes me sad to think about for sure but she still nurses all the time and I mean, she's sitting on my leg right now having a few sips...so I don't think she's interested in weaning any time soon.

Buff - congrats to you!! I love nursing, hate pumping just like every other woman probably. I hope you enjoy many more months or years or however long of nursing your little one.

Oh yes, I definitely feel a little sad about pump weaning... because it just means that my DS is growing up that much more! I remember feeling a bit sad/anxious about pump weaning when I was pumping for my DD, but after I was finally done, it was sooooo LIBERATING!!! Definitely didn't regret letting go of the pump once I was done, and I have a feeling I will feel the same way this time.
