My LO is 4.5 months old and is EBF on demand. Up until about a week or so ago, she nursed about every 3 hours during the day for around 15-20 minutes per side. In the last few days, however, she's eating less frequently - anywhere from 3.5-4 hours - and for only 5-10 minutes per side (with one or two feedings being the usual 15-20min/side). She has STTN for the last two months and that hasn't changed at all. She had her 4 month checkup last week and is gaining weight properly. Her behavior hasn't changed at all - she's still happy and active and has just as many wet diapers as before. All in all, the only thing that has changed is her feeding pattern.
I'm curious as to whether this change is normal... since she's getting older, is she getting more efficient at nursing and just doesn't need to eat as often or as long? When I pump, it only takes me 5-7 minutes to get 5-7 ounces... since babies are more efficient than pumps, it seems like she should be able to get the same amount of milk (or more) in the same time but that may be wishful logic.
