I cook oats (actually something called baby flake oatmeal that I found in a store here) and add about 2 oz of a fruit puree that I make-I alternate prunes/peaches/pears/apricots... That's what DS eats every day!

Snort- Not sure if I know what I'm talking about but don't oats have gluten in them? So perhaps if you LO has a reaction of sorts to oats, it might be as a result of the extra gluten if he is sensitive to gluten. Although him having a bug beforhand might be it, who knows. I find babies are so hard to figure out!

gluten? really? oh no! i hope he doesn't have such allergies!

i haven't reintroduced oats since that day becos he was down with the cough/cold and was having runny stools. didn't want to tax his system by giving something to try out.

will try again maybe in a few days... let you guys know! i bought organic baby rolled oats and will try that.

Hi - Wanted to bump up this post after reading someone's question about oatmeal. I tried the Bob's Red Mill Scottish Oatmeal with my DS and he LOVES it...as do I. And it has no added ingredients...just oats!

Just wanted to add what dd takes to the sitter almost every morning for breakfast...

I make it myself and use whole organic oats and organic fruits.

    2 chopped apples
    1 chopped banana
1/4 c chopped prunes (the whole kind, not the gross pureed kind)
    1/4 c chopped dried apricots
    1/4 c raisins
    water to cover
oats to texture (you can really use however much you want..I probably put in about 1/2-3/4 c)
    cinnamon stick while cooking

I cook it until it is done...the apples should be soft but not mushy. I used to puree it in the blender but I stopped doing that a long time ago...when I heard about child led solids. The sitter feeds it to her on a spoon, while dd plays/feeds herself some chopped up uncooked apple chunks. The sitter heats it up and then adds breastmilk the same as you would add milk to oatmeal. It is soooo yummy. And if you don't have one or more ingredients handy, its soo easy to improvise.
