Default Do you pump a bottle's worth in a session?

    I'm just wondering...

is it typical to pump once for a missed feeding or do people often have to pump more?

I'm currently pumping a third session in order to make G-man's two bottles for daycare.

DD never got more than 3oz in a bottle and that is how much I was pumping until not very long ago (she is over 11 mo now (and it might have been the nasty stress)

Will got 4 oz. bottles and I averaged 3 oz. I often had to pump 4 times a day to make 3 bottles a day.

I do almost all the time, but we only went to 3 oz. bottles recently since she is only 14 weeks.

If I had to give 4 oz bottles I would probably only make a full feeding about 30% of pump sessions.

I usually pump 4 times a day to get 3 4oz bottles. My first pumping session in the AM gives me enough for 2+ bottles, then 3 more sessions to complete the 3rd bottle.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I've noticed I am usually a 1/2 oz short of a fedding each session. 1 extra session usually makes up for it. I usually fall short if I haven't ate or drank recently. I try to eat and drink within an hour of pumping even it's a small amount. Also I've noticed I generally produce more if I drink while pumping.

I was always "lucky" with pumping and by 6 months I was pumping only once a day for his 2 bottles the next day. BUT...I have/had oversupply and OALD so to minimize the oversupply I HAD to cut down pumping. My freezers were full of milk!!!

Happy to see this post! My first pump of the morning I will usually pump one bottle's worth, but for the rest of the day I don't pump enough.

I used to get up in the middle of the night to pump more, but recently started pumping before I go to bed. I don't get a full bottle's worth, but it's enough to add to the rest. And it lets me sleep more.
