Default Books on Weaning for Friend

Hi. I have a friend who asked me for book recommendations on Weaning. Her son turned a year old in April if that makes any difference. Not sure if she is asking for herself but I assume so. I'll probably throw in a gentle sentence about extending bf but if that isn't for her I would like to help her at least get some good resources. And there is no LLL for over an hour away from where she lives.

    Thanks ladies!

LLL's How Weaning Happens is pretty good.

Most of the book does seem geared towards convincing you NOT to wean, but there were some good chapters on weaning and how to do it based on the child's age.

ETA: I think the whole book is good. I just meant that most of the book isn't really geared towards mother-led weaning, but child led weaning and could annoy someone who really wants to wean at a year or some other specific time frame.

I love How Weaning Happens, but I think it's out of print. Another option would be The Nursing Mother's Guide to Weaning.

Really? I bought it about three months ago on Amazon. Is it only recently out of print?

You can still get it on Amazon from resellers. I suspect you wouldn't be able to find it in a bookstore though. And it's not on the LLLI store page anymore.

Oh. That's right... I think I got a used copy. I have no memory anymore.

I also love How Weaning Happens.
It really helped me to examine why I was wanting my lo to wean and empowered us to go at our own pace.

You may want to glance through this-
Breastfeeding Made Simple: Seven Natural Laws for Nursing Mothers

I haven't gotten to read the whole book yet, just a little bit at babies r us, I plan on buying it though. But, it did have some info on weaning, and kind of encourages child led weaning, by talking about how other cultures do child led, and from my memory also goes into why it's better, if you can. However, the book isn't pushy, it also encourages mom's to do what's best for their family.

I think it may be worth a look at, and think about it for your friend.

Chapter 7 is on weaning, it's named-
    Children Wean Naturally
