I guess I just have never been really at rest about DD's slow weight gain (or should I say physical growth, since she's not particularly tall either) and got even more worried when i saw this thread...
To OP: I realized I haven't apologized for and also just realized you posted in my thread for mamas of slow-to-gain babies a while ago.
My youngest brother has some big malabsorption problems, and the symptoms (from what I remember) where basically the same as your baby's. It sounds like you need to see a specialist...I'm not sure what a nutritionist might tell you, but hopefully they can refer you to a GI specialist.
My son is still eating almost nothing but breastmilk (at 10 months). I offer him solids, and he picks at them, but I can't say he's getting any real nutrition. He's a wiry guy...nearly walking, scampering around the house at full speed, burning all kinds of calories--and he's about 21 lbs. So I'd say that your breastmilk is JUST fine...and that maybe it's the solids that are the problem. Have you thought about cutting some of the solids out for a while and increasing your breastfeedings?
The poop thing with the meats is definitely not normal. Most babies have no problem absorbing meat, and in fact...some experts now say to offer meat as a first food! It's not like strawberries or egg whites that might cause an allergy if introduced too early. My youngest brother had similar issues once they started him on solid foods. He is healthy now, but will always be "small" because of his condition.
Best of luck to you, please keep us informed! \\
