Question Milk Blisters - Epsom salt vs Salt Wash

It says here to treat milk blisters I should use salt water rinse after feeding/pumping.

    http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/...lehealing.html

Is this just normal table salt? or does it have to be EPSOM salt? Does it make a difference if I use epsom instead of table salt.

    and it says here
    http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/...html#Treatment

That epsom salt is used BEFORE feeding.

    hope someone can help!

I used regular old salt. I did after feedings, but I was treating cracks, not blisters

Was the regular salt IODIZED table salt? or non-iodized one?

    Answer:
One of the earliest discoveries of magnesium sulfate, the scientific name of Epsom Salt, occurred back in Shakespeare's day in Epsom, England, which explains the first half of the name. The term "salt" probably refers to the specific chemical structure of the compound, although many people mistakenly assume it refers to the crystalline structure of Epsom Salt, which has an appearance similar to that of table salt. (Table salt, of course, consists of sodium chloride, so it's an entirely different substance than magnesium sulfate.)"

"Salt for human consumption is produced in different forms: unrefined salt (such as sea salt), refined salt (table salt), and iodized salt. "

Aww man. I have to get non-iodized salt. All we have here is the iodized one.

I'm going to say it was Iodized. The LC just told me salt water. I didn't look into what kind

Do you have any kosher salt? That's non-iodized.

Nope. I'll just do the epsom salt BEFORE pumping instead ..for now until I can buy table salt tom. I think my nipples are cracked too from trying to breastfeed so thanks to you, I found out doing the salt thing will treat both blisters and cracked nipples
