I am the mother of an ebf 6-month old and have been reading and reading about introduction of solids (primarily to make an informed decision, but also to have evidence-based responses for the unsolicited advice I receive). My biggest take away from all of the research is that although there are some reasons for devising a "solids start date," it really feels more prescribed than anything else. Personally, I have been looking for developmental and behavioral indicators (sitting up, pincer grasp, interest in food, imitation of chewing, nursing behavior, etc.) and have decided my DD is ready for some solids exploration. I understand the frustration of having your parenting choices questioned, but it has also motivated me to be an even more informed parent (and seems to be for a lot of us) so it isn't all bad.
