    Default On off, On off!!!

Hi ladies! My DS is now 16 weeks and I have been EBF since birth. It seems once I get him figured out, he changes everything up on me!! He is very efficient at the breast, but now all of a sudden, after about 8 minutes of eating or so, and it doesn't matter if I change breasts or not, he starts to nurse for about 5 seconds..then he pulls off, looks around, then nurses for 5 seconds pulls off, smiles, then nurses for 5 seconds and fidgets. After he pulls off and does any of the above, HE tries to latch on by himself and it's just this continuous cycle. Nursing, pulling off, relatching, I just don't know what to do. I was wondering if anyone else has had this kind of issue around 4 months of age. He is also playing with my shirt, rubbing my chest, so it seems he is distracted??

Also, since he is 4 months old, does it mean he doesn't need to nurse as often since he is getting more efficient? I just generally feed on demand, but it seems like he doesnt' want to eat as many times during the day.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Yeah my baby does her best nursing in the bedroom when it's dark. Even with a little light she wants to look at the clothes in the closet!

Totally sounds like a distracted baby...
Watch for LO making up for missed sessions late night or overnight...

A newborn baby has only three demands. They are warmth in the arms of its mother, food from her breasts, and security in the knowledge of her presence. Breastfeeding satisfies all three. ~Grantly Dick-Read

Thanks ladies! The Kellymom article sounds EXACTLY like him and what he is doing! I think I will invest in a nursing necklace too, sounds like a plan!
