Default Cheese and Yogurt for 8 month old

    Hi,

I am going to introduce yogurt and cheese for my 8 month old baby girl.

-I am trying to look for Organic plain flavored yogurt without too much sugar. I cannot find anything like that.If anyone of you have given to your baby, can you please specify the brand?

-Also can you please specify what types of cheese can be given?

    Thanks in advance,
    Sangita

Greek yogurt is a really good option if you are looking for something with less sugar. You can sweeten it with agave or fruit. My kids eat it as dessert because they love it so much.

As for cheese, I would have to double check. I started my boys out with cheddar cheese, but I think pretty much any type is fine except for the softer ones like blue, gorgonzola, feta, etc. I don't remember exactly...sorry!

Have you thought about trying plain nonflavored yogurt first? It doesn't sound appealing to most of us grown ups, but many babies love it just plain. It is good to let them try it at least. I get a big tub of either stonyfield, or mountain high brand full fat plain yogurt - it is also great to have around for adding to other foods from tiem to time. I also have added blackberries (not sweetened) to her yogurt, and plan on adding other plain berries or fruit over time.

How would you give yogurt to a baby that is doing bls? Would it be confusing to spoon feed them if they're not used to it?

I gave her the bowl, loaded the spoon to start and a couple of times after that.. when she took the spoon out of my hand, I let her have it. She used it a couple of times, then alternated between hands and spoon.
