    Default Bottlefeeding breast milk

I'm having pain in my right breast and the hospital lactation specialist suggested that I give it a rest for a few days and pump that side. The pain is behind the nipple, like a breast tissue pain. I've been treated for yeast but it seems that isn't the problem as neither I or my baby responded to treatment (my son didn't show any signs of thrush). I'm wondering approx how much I can expect my 10.5 week old son to drink. He's 13 1/2 lbs and 24" long. I just started this today and pumped 4 oz on that side earlier but he drank down 6 oz of breastmilk I had frozen. Is that too much or is that expected at his age/weight? He actually seemed like he may have wanted more too but I was afraid to overfill his belly. Any help would be appreciated!!

I think at that age 4-5 oz every two -3 hours is about right.....6 seems a little high to me. Are you nursing on one sied and then givng 6 oz or are you block feeding?

I agree with DJ'smom... unless your LO is hitting a growth spurt. I think there is one right around 10-12 wks.

At that size my DD drank 4 oz and always acts like she wants more. Really she just wants to suck longer, so you may try a paci afterwards.

i've used this milk calcualator. it goes by their weight and amount of feedings per day, but i will say my LO eats the max or a little bit more than what they say.
