definitely butternut squash! i have a 5 month old who seems to like eating a little bit of it and i hear it's a great starter food. try not to add anything to babys portion ( eg, salt, butter.. ) plain jane is just as good and it still tastes sweet

butternut is a winter squash, right? (very thick rind) winter squashes are ok at that age. i feed mine acorn squash and he enjoys it very much! the book i use says that summer squash (like zucchini and other softer skinned squash) are ok starting at 7 or 8 months.

butternut squash is one of the only foods my 8 month old will eat. Also sweet potato. He sees either and gets very excited. I'd try it fror sure.
