Re: LO FIRST solid--how to ?'s
No, raw is fine.
Most of the stuff I've read talks about cooking fruit, but is that necessary with a banana?
Sure. Or on a spoon. Or if she has mastered the pincer grasp- that is, thumb and forefinger- you could just put some mushy pieces on her high chair tray and see if she puts some in her mouth. You might want to search this forum for threads on baby-led solids- it's an approach that works for many moms here.
Do I just mash it up and give it to her--on my finger?
You don't need to, but you certainly can if you want.
Do I need to mix it with bm? Or can I if I want?
People use them because they're convenient.
And are the jarred bananas any better? Or why do people use those?
Enjoy your baby's first adventures with solids!
