Question Storing milk while at work

I have question, I pump at work and there's no refrigerator I can store my milk so I keep it in my pump bag at room temp until I get home which is about 8 hours exactly. Is this okay?

When I pump at work I put my bottles of EBM in a soft-sided cooler with a "blue ice" to keep the EBM cold. Works great!

Did you pump bag come with a soft-sided cooler?

If not you can get one cheap at places like Target.

There's a zipper bag inside of it. That's where I keep the bottle with milk.
So I have to use blue ice? What about those ice packs are those okay?

I'd use a cooler. I got one like this at Target to send my baby's bottles of EBM to day care.

I have some "blue ice" that are shaped to fit around cans - like this.

You could also use any sort of ice pack.

I pump 3x at work, first one being between 9-10am. I have a Medela PISA, and it comes with a insulated cooler in the bag. I keep one frozen cooler pack in it and store the milk there until I get home at 6, so that's 9 hours. It is fine. I do find that it seems to sour in the refrigerator after about 4 days though...not sure if my storage method contributes to that or not, but I typically freeze half and use the other half the next day, so it really isn't an issue. We actually have a fridge at work, but it is so far away from where I pump and spend most of my time working that it just isn't very efficient.

Get an insulated bag and some freezer packs and you will be fine, just don't forget to put it in your fridge at the end of the day (did that a couple of times...oops!)
