Sometimes the initial blast of hormone/change can lead to post partum depression but nursing doesn't make that more likely. Just make sure you talk to your foster mom about watching for signs of it.

I am so glad you are in a supportive environment. You are going to be an amazing mom. Keep us posted.
proud but exhausted working mammy to two high needs babies

    • my surprise baby: the one and only D-Man born 3 weeks late (5/5/08) at 9 lbs 14 oz and 21.5 inches, and
    • the shock H-Girl born about a week late (10/7/09) at 8lbs 15oz and 20.75 inches.

If I am here I am covered in baby (probably two) and fighting for control of the keyboard.

I hope she doesn't mind, but I thought I'd update right quick for the mamas following this thread!

Anna and her doula are headed to the hospital now. Her contractions are 4 minutes apart. I'm not sure if she'll call me or if she'll just post when she can about the birth.

4 minutes apart? That's great, sounds like there might not be long to wait. I'm glad Anna found someone to go to the hospital with her. I feel so bad for the situation she's in.

Me too. She has her doula, and I helped her put together a birth plan yesterday, so hopefully that will help a lot in her getting the experience she's going for! It is a tough situation, but I can tell just from talking to her a bit that she's going to do great!
