He has a reflux problen too, also low on iron and WONT take his iron drops in anything. He throws them up as soon as its past his lips, weve tried mixing it in to things, but he doesnt eat or drink anything but the breast. This is honestly the first post i read that someone else has this problem. my baby doesnt get ear infections though. As for the reflux medication, ive noticed my boy does make gulping noises as much. Is your baby eating better? my inlaws and family members also blame it on me bf for "so long"
Try the floradix iron liquid. It tases like fruit and mixes with juice pretty well also try giving 1/2 dose in morning and 1/2 at night, the taste isn't as strong.

To the OP: I find it's normal for BF toddlers to eat less food than their FF peers. I think it's b/c formula tastes SO BAD that the FF toddlers are happy to have anything but that once they taste real food!! (I say this b/c I have FF my DD and this is my take on it) And BF toddlers BM and don't really need/want to give it up so soon. IMHO there is nothing wrong with this. BM is full of nutrients and antibodies you can't get from anywhere else as you know.

Both my DS1 who bf'd past 3 and a half and my DS2 who is now 25 months took a while to take to solids but they are healthy and smart as I am sure your LO is too! It's just different with bf'd toddlers and most docs don't have experience with this.

Good luck with the ENT. If they are not supportive of bfing then either ignore that part or find one that is supportive.

I'm glad we have found each other! My lo is not eating any better on the meds. I'm also giving him gripe water again ( we gave it to him until he was about 6 mths for colic) its supposed to help with reflux and I thought it be worth trying to help him sleep... Does your lo not sleep very well either? Like last night my lo was up every hour so restless & wanting to nurse. We are supposed to go a GI specialist at childrens hospital next mth if this meds doesn't start working. I'm hoping we're start seeing a difference

    aww..

dd is 14 mos and is currently not eating much of anything as far as solids go... i think her issue is teething; when she's cutting teeth, she doesn't want solids, only bm...she also had bad reflux issues has a baby, but outgrew them at about 10 months..

perhaps you should ask for a referral to a ped GI or an ear/nose/throat doctor.. i don't think that what your pedi is telling you about nursing is accurate, either...

We went to the ent dr yesterday and they want to put tubes in his ears in two wks. We also go to a GI specialist for his reflux. I hope the tubes help and we get on a better track. I'm still pretty concerned about his eating... He's wanting to BF all of the time since he's not eating much. Is this what your lo does... Are you concerned about your lo not eating and getting enough nutrients?? Tks for all of your comments, I really appreciate it!
