    Default Solids and Breastfeeding

So I have found that my son LOVES to eat. He eats three meals a day and nurses around 5-6 times a day.

My question is: is nursing 5 times a day enough for a 7 month old baby? I want to make sure I am doing everything right...he is my first.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

At seven months I think three meals a day is a bit much depending on how much you are feeding at one sitting and I would aim for at least six nursing sessions. Breast milk is the most important thing right now.

About how much in solids does he eat each day and does he self feed?

I have been making my own food for him, but it goes something like this:

one small banana and a tablespoon of cereal.
one small jar of veggies (avocado, sweet potatoes, string beans, etc.)
one small jar of mashed chicken, carrots, string beans.

He self-feeds cheerios and puffs. If there chunks of food on his table, he will pick them up to eat too.

Is that too much? During the day I try and nurse him as often as I can, but he is not interested. He is so nosy and would rather see what is going on or play.
