Default pasta ok at 9 mos?

DD3 is about to be 9 mos and she just tried mac & cheese yesterday and loved it! I am wondering what other ways to fix pasta for her (other than using baby food purees as the sauce) and if there is a limit to how often I should give it to her. I mean, I'm not thinking 3xs a day or anything but would every day or every other day be ok? She has reached the point where she doesn't really like being fed and I was thinking the pasta would give me something to "stick" ther foods to so she could feed herself.
Since they are pretty much just carbs, are they considered empty calories or is pasta ok?

I am def not as up on these things as many mamas on here but I gave DS pasta at this age. I usually did the veggie pasta or WW or even Quinoa wheels as an alternative.

Did you just do it plain or add stuff to it?

We added a little olive oil and peas/chicken/whatever he had tried at that point, and he loved it--still does!

    heres something from that link

You can capitalize on a baby's developing fine motor abilities and growing curiosity by adding new tastes and textures to baby's diet that give him an outlet for these skills. By nine months, it's time for finger foods.

    cooked carrots
    rice cakes
    O-shaped cereals
    pasta/spaghetti pieces
    mashed potatoes
    teething biscuits
    tofu
    noodles
    peas and beans
    egg yolk
more cereals: rice, barley, wheat, oatmeal
    cubes of cheese, 1/2-inch
cubes of cooked fruit (fruit cocktail size)

And all of this is ok with NO teeth? Granted, I think we are teething so that may be a mute point in a few weeks but, right now she's all gums

you might find that your dd will not eat much either.

Ok, thanks...I think she just really loves the different foods available to her now. She had some mac & cheese yesterday and I know she'd have eaten more if I would have let her but, I really thought that 20 or so pieces of pasta with cheese was enough for our first try at it.
I was thinking Whole Wheat pasta with some baby squash or something like that...
What about how much they can have? Is there a limit? Like not more than every few days or something?

watch her poops if they get to hard you might have to cut back on foods and nurse more often.

You don't want solids to replace breastmilk at that age.

Pasta twists are great. Sometimes I mix them with soft cheese or peanut butter or homous for a quick lunch. The great thing I think about pasta is it is salt freee whereas bread isn't so it makes a good alternative and great for food on the go.

I think you have to be careful of too much wholemeal stuff for babies - can't remember why, but have read about it. I interchange between wholemeal and other pastas and bread to ensure she is not getting overloaded. It gives our lo variety if nothing else.

I also give our lo quinoa, cous cous, bulgar wheat, lentils and rice. I mix them with veg so she can eat them by dipping, or I run some natural yoghurt through to make them stodgier so she can pick up easily or scoop, or I spread on pitta, rice cakes or oatcakes so she can lick them off or eat them altogether.

Do you know what, I am so obsessed with BLS (Baby led weaning, we call it here in England) that I go to bed thinking of ways my baby can eat the wonderful array of nutritional food that we eat as a family. Oh and she has no teeth either and manages to use her gums to bite, chew and manage her food with surprising skill at 9 months old.

    Good luck
