    Default Blood In Milk

I noticed this morning during my first session that there was a little blood in the milk. From both breasts. I noticed it again this most recent session, but just from one breast this time. What could have caused it?

None more than usual. I'll take a closer look but didn't notice anything unusual.

Hmm...really? I did have some chili last night, but I've had it before and didn't notice anything different while pumping. I also eat beets, a lot, but nothing else has changed.

I was in a tiny bit of pain the first session so I lowered the suction down. I was thinking the tenderness is from AF, but would that cause blood while pumping?

I don't know if af would cause blood in your milk
I'll get out my book and see if I can find anything.

I do know the milk is safe for baby.

Thanks Andrea. Let me know what you find out. I'm curious.

It just mostly talked about when the baby is 1st born and called blood in milk
    "rusty pipe sydrome"

That doesnt' sound like whats going on.
    Didn't say anything about af

Another possible cause is broken capillaries within the breast from rough handling of the breast or improper use of breast pump.

IT is not unusual for blood in milk to clear up with out treatment.
IF it goes on longer then 2 weeks mother should be checked by doctor.
