    Default Pacifier most like breast

My 3 month old uses me for comfort nursing at times. If he was my only LO I would be fine with it, but I have 2 other kids that need me sometimes! He doesn't like the pacifiers we've tried (Avent and Soothie) and maybe he just isn't a pacifier lover, but it would be nice to be able to give him one once in a while. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Have you tried wearing him in a sling so you can tend to the older children while comfort nursing?
I second wearing your baby so you can be hands free.

The Gerber NUK was the only pacifier that DD2 would ever have anything to do with.

My DD liked the Playtex Ortho Pro and my DS prefers the Gerber Nuk. Neither one of them wanted anything to do with the pacifier until they were 4-5 months old. Each child has their own preference.

I had a sling and hated it. I have a Moby now which I like, but nursing in it just doesn't work.

Yeah, he just might not be a pacifier lover. That's fine, I just thought I would see if there was some magical pacifier out there I didn't know about.

    Thank you for the suggestions!

I had some success nursing in my Moby but I forget how I did it-here are instructions from their site: http://www.mobywrap.com/t-instructions-Nursing.aspx neither of my kids would ever take a paci but sometimes I could get them to suck their fingers when they or I were desperate. Do you still need both hands to support your baby and yourself while you nurse? I got good at nursing one handed and found there really is not much you cannot do for other children with only one hand if it comes to that! I have nursed (without a sling) while playing catch (with a very soft, stuffed ball of course!) playing endless candy land, reading, doing puzzles, playing trains, etc. My kids are under three years apart. I would sometimes explain to my older son that he got to nurse all the time too when he was little. It would help him to look at his own baby pictures when he was feeling as if I was spending too much time or focus on little brother. You are teaching your older kids an important lesson in love and giving when you tend to the immediate needs of your baby. 3 months old is still pretty little!

DD would take anything when she was real little, then she developed a preference for the Playtex Binky - round, not the orthodontic sort of flattened nipple - AND only in latex. She'd take a silicone pacifier when she was little, but I guess the latex is more nipple-y.

And she totally stopped taking one around 7 months.

When we'd lay down together she would NEVER let go, even when she was totally asleep. This is when I would slip a pacifier in so I could get some rest myself or get up. Worked (almost) every time.

Thanks for the help! I got a couple of different ones today to see how that works. If it doesn't, it doesn't.

Meg, I found the link on nursing in a Moby. I will have to give that a shot. Thank you!
