Default how firm is the 24-hr rule?

    hello ladies,

i rarely give ebm, so i'm clueless about things. i know the rule is thawed breastmilk generally keeps for 24 hrs in the fridge, but how firm is that..? like, if it's 27 hours instead of 24, do you think it's safe to give? i REALLY don't wanna waste this bottle! also, should i be able to tell by smelling it?

    TIA!!!

I've used it after 27-28 hours & it was fine. Smell and taste, see if your LO rejects it

It should be fine. Just give it a quick smell and taste if you're concerned.

I read somewhere on this site that it's not considered thawed until there are NO ice crystals left. So, when I put it from the freezer into my fridge, after 12 hours or so, there are still some ice crystals in it, so I start the 24 hour time after it has completely thawed.
