Default so now what do I do?

My LO stared on some solids about 3 weeks ago when she turned 6 months, we began w/ avocados, sweet potatoes and baby oatmeal ceral. I think she may have had some pears too. We fed her that maybe 1-2/day only about 2tbsps at a time though.

About 1 week ago she got all constipated to the point she hadn't pooed in like 6-7 days and was grunting in pain. We've only been giving her pureed prunes and pears for the past couple of days and finally things are back to normal, but now I'm not sure how to go back to solids w/o her getting constipated again and we wanted to start new foods, but it seems like a circle... Any suggestions?

skip the cereal! Very binding for some toddlers
at 6 months you can go back to just nursing and then slowly add back new foods.

I did take her off that and am only doing fruits and would like to start back on some veggies but have been nervous as I don't want her to get constripated again.

They don't need the vitamins or iron in the baby ceral then?

My ped suggested giving 1 food then waiting about 3 days. That would give time to see if there was any allergy, irritation, or constipation to that food. He told us feeding too many foods too close together would make it really hard to pinpoint the cause of any problem that might occur. HTH!

Cereal has no nutritional value for LO. It will constipate and can cause digestive problems later on.

Baby cereals are not necessary despite claims that they are!

They usually have a ton of iron in them. It's important to get iron and those things but you can get them from other sources. The problem is that the iron added (to cereals and a lot iron fortified stuff) isn't very bioavaliable so they have to put a lot in there so you absorb some.
Some babies have no trouble with it and some really do.

It's sort of like cow's milk. Humans do not need to drink cows milk (it is after all only made for baby cows ). It's a decent source of calcium and vitamins and all that but you can get those lots of other places, it is not necessary for human survival!
