Question What is this?! Is it normal?

I started relactating a few weeks ago, but didn't get serious until a few days ago. I have been pumping like crazy, between 8 and 10 times a day. After I pump for about 20 minutes, I manually express to make sure I completely empty my breasts. Yesterday, while I was manually expressing, I felt a huge lump on my right side. It isn't really hard, but its about the size of a ping pong ball, really deep, kind of close to my nipple. I was thinking maybe it was a clogged milk duct, so in the shower tonight I tried to massage it in the hot water. I massaged my left side too and felt the same thing in the same place. I don't feel it much when I just rub it (like a self breast exam) but more when I squeeze to manually express.

Does anyone have any idea what this is? Should I be worried? If it's on both sides, what are the chances it's a clogged duct? Is it maybe just an increase in breast tissue? Has anyone expereinced anything like this? Of course it's Friday night so I can't get ahold of my doctor until after the weekend!

I've felt this before as well, I thought it might just be a lump of tissue? I think it happens before milk starts being produced. But other than that, I don't know what it could be, sorry!

It's breast tissue. I have the same thing... About the size of a small golf ball. I've had it since I Was about 5 months preggo (around the same time I started leaking all the time!) and it never went away. When my OB did the breast exam at my 6 week PP visit, he didn't say anything at all. Oh, I wasn't breastfeeding at that time, either.

It's normal but as always, call the doc if you feel you need a professional opinion. Nothing anyone here says should take the place of true medical advice.

    Good luck!
