I gave up the waiting thing after my first baby too I just offer. If there's a problem, I'll figure it out later.

I am angry about something though...We went to the grocery store yesterday, and I always walk through the organic baby food aisle, even though I rarely buy anything, just to see what is new. This store even sells gDiapers (!) and it's a big mainstream East Coast store. So the selection is generally pretty good. There were these new packets, and I thought, hmmm. That might be useful. It feels like chopped up dried apples, and I like the size; so even though it's expensive, it might be useful, so I'll get one and try it.

Opened it this morning, just to see if Gav likes it, and it's freaking CANDY-LIKE. Like gummy candy It tastes like candy. The other kids loved them.

Granted, better for them than candy, but WHY?!?!

I gave him the peas raw. I think he likes the crunch; it probably helps with teething but he's swallowing some in the process which is the most he's eaten since he decided to quit purees.

Thanks for the feedback. I think we'll have to be a little more brave with table food so he has more new stuff to choose from. My husband was excited to give him cookies long before we started solids, so I'm afraid I'm going to have to reiterate my no cookie policy. Maybe this is reason for candy-like foods - so guys like my husband can feel like they are giving sweets to the kids.

Really? Ok, cool! My first time mom head kept thinking that wasn't very much. Maybe my expectations were coming from stories and anecdotes I've heard from parents who emphasize pushing solids (probably ).

@Susan - just looked at the buddy fruits. That's totally candy. Good to know, also for the light it probably sheds on their other products. I've considered picking it up a time or two, but hadn't yet.

We've added carrots and prunes. Both were a big hit. I actually don't mind giving her the purees - she is lunging at the spoon for them. So funny. She had some green beans, I think. No lunging for that. We've been giving her cucumber sticks to chew on during dinner... she loves that. I need to cook some other veggies for her to chew on during dinner and expand her horizons.

ETA: Oh, and she's had avocado. Loved it.

Jackson is not a fan of purees so far. Out of the ones he has tried though the biggest hits were rice cereal with BM, and sweet potatoes. We have tried mashed banana and avocado, and green beans. So Tracie I think I will also try some sweet potato fries soon! He really wants to grab everything and do it himself. He also grabs for my water cup and will lap at it a little. Honestly the thing he has been most interested in eating was grass.

So cute. I really didn't enjoy introducing solids with Lilah. I'm having fun this time.

ETA: I have heard that grass can be very healthy.

Is she having trouble grabbing the banana or avo? I remember it was always hard for K because they were slippery.

Yes. And then they squish in her hands and she has the funniest disgusted look on her face. I smooshed up some avocado and gave it to her on a spoon. She liked it. I remember reading someone saying that they dusted those types of foods with something, but I can't remember what it was. Maybe it was rice cereal?

I haven't bought cereal yet. My DCP asked me about it, but I am on the fence about it.
