No, I haven't tried a bottle...just feel too drained to break out all the pumping stuff. It might be the chili I had last night...lots of acidy tomatoes. He just isn't himself today...not staying asleep, and not wanting to eat. OOOOhhhhh....he just did a huge bomb. Maybe that was it. He never wants to eat when he has to poop. I don't know. It's such a guessing game. Thanks ladies.

I think trying a bottle might be worth it for you guys - see if he behaves differently?

went to the ped. today...he gave a script. for prevacid, and if insurance won't cover it, axid (in the zantac family).
He said that Jonah has a receded lower jaw...not sure if that has any effect on his nursing, but I'm sure contributes to his poor latch. I'll see if he exhibits any changes in his nursing with the meds. Hopefully they help, and he stops rejecting. I am also continuing with block-feeding.

Don't all infants have a receded lower jaw? Isn't that what makes us able to breastfeed in the first place?

Then as they mature it evens out, and that is usually the natural time for weaning in children when their jaw isn't receded anymore?

I have to look that up...

Flip to page 26 of the book where it says 'Jaw'. I can't copy and paste it to here. Another breastfeeding book also said infants have a receded jaw at birth to help with breastfeeding until around age 3 when their profile will change. I remember talking about this in my LLL meeting a long time ago.

The problems can occur if the infant has an excessive receded jaw, is that what your pedi said?

Thanks Lisa...he didn't say, just said it was receded. We started the prevacid today. I'm hoping that helps!
