    Question What's For Finger Foods?

Okay ladies, I need your help. I've been a little slow on the finger foods front. LO is doing better with chewing now (9.5 months) so I really need to start giving her more finger foods and letting her try things out.

So far I've only given her Nutrios (like cheerios), Mum Mums and Farley Biscuits. So if you could tell me what you're giving and how you're giving them (size & shape) I'd really appreciate it.

Everything that age was french fry shape except Apple wedges. Which were apple wedged shaped only much thinner.
    String cheese.
    Water melon.
    Sugar snap peas (natural shape)
    Plums
    Pears
    Bananas.
    Pinto beans (natural shape)
    Blueberries (natural shape)
    Celery
    Artichoke leaves (natural shape)
    Quesadillas
    Tofu

B does a great job with well steamed broccoli (I can tell from her diapers)! I make sure to peel the harder outer surface before I steam it because it's too tough for her to mash.

DJs.mom, my Dr. said not to give beans until she has teeth. Also pinto beans are small. Obviously this can't be in a french fry shape. WDYT

He had 6 teeth by the time he was 9 months old. We did baby led solids from the every beginning. I never cooked, or peeled or mashed ANYTHING. EVER. So I knew he could chew without his molars right away. I wasn't worried about beans. He mashed them up with his gums. I mean he had teeth but he used them to bite stuff off. Not chew it up. Because it was he front four and his top canines.
Although I did feed him Steam Broccoli as a food when we went out to restaurants.
    I forgot Avacado.

We also did baby led solids. When DS had a good pincer grip he was eating things like beans, peas & blueberries.

At first I slightly "squished" them to break the outer skin and make it a little easier for DS to "chew".

LO don't do real chewing until they get molars, which is MUCH later. Those baby gums are HARD and do a great job.

My test - if I could eat a food using just my tongue & the roof of my mouth (no teeth) I figured it was okay for DS.

We are doing BLS too, much to the surprise of my family... people freak out when I give her whole foods. At the end of the night my dad told B: "You are wearing a broccoli necklace". It was lined in her fat folds.

I'm going to start giving her beans & tofu.. she hasn't had anything but fruits & vegetables thus far. Fun fun.

    Sorry,

Cottage cheese, especially the large curd kind. Easier to pick up. HUGE hit.
    Shredded cheese
    Green beans as they are
    Pasta
    Broccoli
    Peas
    Beans
Diced or thin strips of soft meats
    Peaches/Pears/Plums
Bananas split into 3 (just press on the ends and they break into natural sections)
    Cereal puffs
    Blueberries cut in half
    Grapes cut in half
    Raspberries
Toast strips, sometimes buttered, sometimes with cream cheese spread on
    Melon chunks
    Quesadillas
    Enchiladas cut into small pieces
Cheese melted onto bread and cut into strips
    Cherries

Those are what I can think of off the top of my head!

Babies definitely don't need teeth to chew. Think about it, they don't chew with their front teeth anyway.
