I have 4 boys. the first 2 are 12 and 11 years old and I was unsuccessful at breastfeeding with them. My third child is 2 and was in NICU and again I was unsuccessful at breastfeeding. My fourth son is 5 months old and is still breastfeeding! YEA! But the doctor told me to start feeding him cereal and I was pumping just enough milk to mix with the cereal about 2 ounces. When I was pumping to "stash" for emergencies, I was getting at least 4 ounces from each breast. Now, I am lucky if I can squeeze out 2 ounces. My LO only eats maybe 4 or 5 times a day. His breakfast is cereal and breast, then if he gets hungry before lunch i feed him off both breast. Then lunch is a vegetable and breast if he gets hungry before dinner he gets fed off both breast, then his dinner is cereal and 1breast. I put him to bed around 9pm and he sleeps all night till 7 or 8 the next morning. Is all of this normal? I have tried to increase pumps between feedings and I get nothing out of either breast. But when he nurses he is happy. Any advice will be appreciated. This is my last child and I want to successfully nurse as long as possible!!!
