    Default Whole milk on cereal?

I know that if you're giving cow milk to a child under 2 as a drink to children under 2 it should be whole milk. Is there something inherently bad about reduced fat milk? My husband and son like to share a bowl of mini-wheats for breakfast. We adults drink 2%, so that's what's on the cereal. Little man gets plenty of full fat yogurt and cheese, and he still nurses 3-4 times a day. When he doesn't eat cereal with 2% he eats toast or oatmeal and applesauce. So is there a strong reason to insist on whole milk?

I think you're fine. I believe they insist on whole milk in cases where people are replacing formula or breastmilk with cow's milk.

It's for the fat content... but sounds like you have that covered so I wouldn't worry about it.
