Default Does Watermelon really help increase supply?

I've heard this and I LOVE watermelon so it would be easy for me (unlike oatmeal... ickies, I have to MAKE myself eat that). Is it more because of the water in the watermelon (therefore, hydrating mama) and not something IN the watermelon that increases milk supply?

Just wondering... I love watermelon and could eat it all day long every day...

    TIA!

    Mama2Caleb2006,

Actually I was told the opposite, by a LC.

Watermelon is a natural diuretic and can dcrease milk supply and was told to limit it. I have never researched it though.

Yes, I know lots of LC's who "prescribe" watermelon for edema, as it is a natural diuretic. I have not heard of it increasing/decreasing supply. Just used to get the fluid out! I guess if one were to eat a ton of it, the extra fluid could potentially affect supply. As we always suggest: drink to thirst!
