    Default Cherries?

E is 7 1/2 months and can pinch smaller foods. We are doing BLS.

I have a bunch of very ripe bing cherries. Is it bad to peel one, pit it, and slice in smaller pieces for E?

She has also sucked on melon and mango and eats pears and bananas with no problem.

Sounds great - I probably wouldn't bother with peeling.

I cut mine in 1/2 and take out the pit for the girls, but they are 2 and 4. You may want to quarter them for yours.

The Dr Sears site got me all worried because it says not to give raw fruit at this age but to do fruit cocktail kind of fruit. But she eats SO well and the cherries are pretty soft.

Not sure of the reason behind not doing raw fruit?

Some of my DS early foods were fruits that are naturally very soft - pears, cherries, blueberries (I'd "squish" them a little).

I don't know either! Maybe he's trying to steer people clear of raw apples? Duh. Blueberries! Excellent. I have a pint in the fridge. Oh we also have done watermelon and that is soft.

I gave my DD some cherries the other day, she loved them! Just quartered them, didn't bother peeling. She's a tad older (10 months) but has been eating things like it since about 7 months. She loves blueberries too!

At that age, I would also 1/8 grapes (depending on their size) and my girls loved them.

ETA. and plums - my DD2 loved plums, but of course, I'd peel those

I've given DD cherries to suck on while I hold it and she'll be 9 months in a few days If DH sticks to the list I just gave him for the store she'll be getting some cut up cherries to eat for dinner tonight.

Dr. Sears didn't say why to avoid raw fruit? It's a staple for DD since she can't have much else right now due to allergies.
