After reading lots of stories with embarrassed moms, I really really really didn't want DS shouting "boobie!" or something like that in public.

We started calling nursing "mommy milk" waaaay before DS was talking.

Before DS was talking, he used the ASL sign for "milk" (fist opening and closing).

When he got verbal he said "mommy milk".

(We call breasts & nipples by those names. So DS will happily explain that mommy milk is in mommy's breasts and comes out from the nipple. I just prefer to use "real" names for body parts.)

    We called them "moo moos."

ETA: And when baby #2 comes in October, I will probably teach him/her to call them moo moos too.

I'm just curious, is it a regional thing? I could see not wanting my child to shout for "titties" or "knockers" or something, but "booby" never struck me as embarrassing in the least.

I use to call them "boobies" but my 10 year old would look at me like : so now we go with just "milk".

We call them boobies here too (in the northeast). Thinking about DD hollering "knockers" across the room is making me !

I can only speak for myself - I'm just not a fan of slang for body parts. In our family we body parts (girl parts and boy parts) by their "real" names.

I was cracking up & my manager came in I think he was wanting me to share what was so funny

Funny! I am in the Northeast too, I guess it's just a personal preference You know some people STILL view them as sexual things so when you are out and all you might not want your kid saying that because of other people
