Question Should number of nursing go down?

My son who is 6 months old is starting solids..well except for cereal hes been on rice since 4 months to help with GERD at times. My question is when they start eating "meals" will the number of times they nurse a day go down? HE now a little cereal in the morning then late afternoon early evening he will have some baby food. I do nurse before I offer any food and he has been nursing 5-6 times a day total... is this okay or should he still be nursing 6-8 times like a newborn?

According to my pediatrician it is normal for them to cut down to 5/6 nursings when starting solids! Hope that helps a little
