Hello, This may be a silly question but I know he won't eat a whole avacado each time I offer it and I was wondering what is the best thing to do with it as they turn brown so quickly. I love avacados but I don't think I can eat one a day either! Do you put them in lemon water and cover in the fridge?

Leaving the pit in will help it keep from turning longer, but even if it does turn brown, it is generally only the top, which can just be cut off and everything underneath is still edible.

wss just cut off what you need and leave the rest in the skin with the pit attached.

I cover mine with Saran wrap so it's touching all of the fleshy bits and refrigerate. Usually it's a half with the pit, so this has kept it from browning too much. But even if it does turn brown, you can just slice off the dry brown bit and use the rest underneath.

I was going to suggest the same thing. Make sure the Saran wrap is touching all the green part of the avacado and keep the pit it. I sometimes even throw it in a Tupperware container after using the wrap.

You can also slice it up and sprinkle it with salt and have it with couscous or in a salad.

I would mash the rest of it, mix it up with some mashed bananas and freeze it in an ice cube tray. My son loves bananacado! I thaw a couple of cubes at a time, and it doesn't seem to brown this way.

lol! i love avocado! and would be happy to eat one a day! i always tell my husband that when we buy our own home, all i want is an avocado tree!

anyway! since im such a fan of the avocado i've discovered that if you use the saran wrap technique but instead use a soaking wet paper towel and put it in plastic baggie this will keep the avocado nice and green for 2 to 3 days (as long as teh towel remains wet)

    ; ) enjoy!

I don't like avocado . . . so I tend to use it for a facial if I have too much left in the fridge
