    Default nursing pattern changes

DD is 3 months and has been nursing like a champ. Here lately though, within about the past week or 2, she's been eating for much shorter periods of time and going without for much longer than normal.

She used to eat every 2-3 hours and for at least 20 mins on each side. Now she seems to be done within 5-10 mins (I burp her really good and offer it again to make sure she's not just full on air) and she will go 4-5 and sometimes 6 hours without wanting to eat. I have attempted to feed her during that time just in case she *was* hungry but just not showing it, but she refuses (gags and smiles at me) and seems happy and content to go that long without eating.

I know their patterns change as they get older but is 3 months old a normal for this to happen? I don't know why I have forgotten all of this, it's only been 2 years.

    Thanks,
    ~Michelle~

It sounds normal provided she is still having good wet diapers each day.

After six weeks or so it's completely normal for BF babies to go longer between poops due to the fact that it is highly digestible. As so long as she is not straining to poop very solid formed poops.

Michelle. They do get more effective at emptying the breast and getting just what they need. As Beth said, as long as her diaper output is good and she's growing well, you're good to go.
