Default FYI: I mixed my pumps and got the best pump ever

I just thought I would share my story, I thought it might be helpful. I had a Playtex pump and it was great, except the motor is not very high quality and it died and then the replacement they sent me did the same. So I gave up on that and got a Medela, but the breast shields are terrible on the Medela and it didn't work for me.

So I used the playtex tubing and shields with the Medela motor and it is the BEST! I had to ship the whole playtex setup back to Playtex to get the refund, but I went on the playtexstore.com website and bought another set of their tubing and breast shields, so everything works now.

Anyway, if you are having trouble with milk production with a Medela pump, that is my recommendation - try putting the Playtex shields on it. They are great. But I don't recommend using the Playtex motor. It stinks.

Don't the playtex shields wear out quickly?

The Playtex shields haven't worn out for me yet. They've gotten softer and more flexible, but they seem to work better for me that way. I actually prefer my old shields to the new ones they sent me, although I suspect it is because the old ones had BPA in them, so they are a softer plastic.

I don't know what you mean by the "cup," I am talking about the part you put on your boobs, plus the tubes that connect those to your pump. Everything from boob to where the tube connects is Playtex, then it connects to the Medela motor, in the Medela bag.

Is this the nursing necessities or the embrace pump?

What a great idea! I hate the Medela breast shields, too.

Sadly, the replacement parts are currently out of stock at playtexstore.com. Amazon and Teebop are also out of stock... anywhere else to try that anyone knows of?

I did the exact same thing only I'm using my Ameda kit from the hospital on my Medela. It's so much easier to clean. I seem to keep getting milk in the tubing of the medela kit.

do you know if the medela tubes will connect to the playtex cups?

i am renting the symphony and want to try different breastshields but the tubing that connects to the actual symphony motor end of the pump is different than that of the medela bag PISAs.
