    Default Breastmilk mixed with formula

Moderators, I apologize f this is not the proper place to post this, but I don't know where else to post.

Anyway, I'm a working-pumping-breastfeeding mom and I've been successful so far. My baby turned one last April 10 and he's mostly on breastmilk.

However, a couple of weeks ago, he refused to drink my expressed milk. The nanny tried adding a scoop of powdered formula in a bottle of 6oz BM, and sure enough, my boy drank it. Every time my baby refuses the pure expressed BM, the nanny would put just one scoop of powdered formula.

I learned just today that doing so is not advisable. Now I don't know what to do.

I have to go to work around 10hrs a day for 5 days a week. The milk I pump for the day is given to my baby the next day so I don't think my milk has gone bad already that's why my baby's refusing it.

I find it weird that he refuses the taste of my milk when he doesn't fuss at all when direct feeding from me. I really have no problems at all direct feeding him.

    Any thoughts on this?

    TIA!

    Hi!

Have you tried tasting your breastmilk? Maybe your milk has lipase in it? Here is a link on lipase. HTH!

Lipase was my first thought, as well.

If the issue isn't lipase, how about starting with bottles of 50% formula and 50% breastmilk (not 100% breastmilk + scoop of formula!) and gradually decreasing the amount of formula in the bottle? Sort of slowly weaning your baby back onto bottled breastmilk?

I thought the same thing. Here is a thread about excessive lipase.

If your child is over a year old why formula at all? Why not Cows milk?

    Way too lazy for formula
