Default How much should he be eating?

We are without a pediatrician right now and I need help! How much should my son be eating?! I worry that maybe he's eating too much?

DS is 7 months old, but is 2 months premature, so he's 5 months adjusted. Long story short, I pump all of his milk, so he is breastfed, it's just via bottle. He is finally beginning to say "when" so we know he's full, but other times, he would probably eat forever if we let him.

How much should he be eating per feed or per day? I know there are guidelines out there for babies on formula; what about breastfed babies on momma's milk?!

    Thanks for any help!

The average/day is from 19-30 oz. This should help:

We have 2 beautiful children: Luana who's 9 y/o, had breastmilk for 2 years and is smart as a whip. Lucas who came out kickin', is 4 y/o and continues to enjoy his milkies.

    Hi, Mamma.

Congrats to you for pumping all this time! What a special gift.

Yes, in addition to what the previous poster mentioned, frequent burping during a feeding... some will burp after every ounce or so... helps satiate baby more easily and helps avoid overfeeding. This is especially helpful since milk in a bottle is the same composition throughout, whereas the milk from breastfeeding changes throughout a feeding.

    Many good vibes your way!

Is exclusive breastfeeding a goal? If so, are you working with an experience LC and/or LLL Leader? When will you be able to see a ped? How is baby's wet/poopie diaper count?

    take care,
