    Question Bruised feeling in breasts

My right breast is extremely tender to the touch. It feels exactly like a bruise would feel. I haven't noticed any lumps like a plugged duct, but it is only in one specific area. I have a tiny, tiny bit of redness, but I do not have any of the other flu-like symptoms of mastitis. What might be going on?

It's tender on the side of my breast and a little bit underneath it, not on the nipple.

I would guess it's the beginning of a plugged duct. Here's some info

Thanks for the info. I was leaning towards plugged duct too, I just can't feel a lump.

sometimes you can't feel a lump because sometimes the lump is too far "in" and other times it's a very small lump that shifts. The localized tenderness coupled with slight redness would make me think plugged duct.

Thanks again! I just called my local leader and descired the pain to her and she suspects a plugged duct also. She gave me lots of great suggestions on how to take care of it, so hopefully it will get to feeling better soon.

So I've been working hard on massaging while nursing, warm compresses and hot showers trying to get rid of my plugged duct. It feels a lot better today than it did yesterday. I have never been able to feel exactly where it was. I assume that it may be gone. Is there anyway to tell?
