Question Are any Cough Syrups or Cough Drops safe?

    Hi all,
My doctors office closed today before I had the chance to call in, I have a really bad cough wondering if any cough syrup or drops are safe while breastfeeding? On the package they all say refer to physician.

    Thanks!

So sorry you're not feeling well! Hope you feel better very soon. It's definitely that time of year, hu?

Just a reminder, though, none of us can suggest a specific type of medicine... LLL Leaders are happy to look up the safety of a particular med for a breastfeeding mother, of course.

    take care,

I was not asking anyone to suggest medicine. All I was asking if some basic over the counter medicines are okay, such as Robitussin DM or over the counter cough drops.

No problem... I totally understand what you mean. As Moderators/LLL Leaders, we just need to squeeze in these little disclaimers, even when asking "if some basic over the counter medicines are okay, such as Robitussin DM or over the counter cough drops."
